Writ(er)ing Circle at The Grove (IN PERSON)

Join Writers in Bloom founder Meg at The Grove for a Writ(er)ing Circle.

Led by Writers in Bloom founder, Meg, we will write together, while also discussing our writing lives past, present and future. This event is open to all creative writers and the writing-curious in the Ottawa area.

Our time together will include:

  • Writing & sharing

  • Conversations about what your writing life looks and feels right now and what kind of events could support you and your work going forward

  • A chance to connect with other writers in a community-based space that it inclusive and uplifting

You’ll leave with new writing, some new friends, a little gift to keep your creativity flowing, and an open door to upcoming Writers in Bloom events.

This Writ(er)ing Circle will be held at The Grove, 78 Hinton Avenue North. Masks are required for the duration of the event. If you have questions about accessibility, please reach out.

The Writ(er)ing Circle is offered on a sliding scale of $30/$45/$60.

The Vibe

  • If you are HAUNTED by the desire to write, whether you’re currently writing or not, then I will claim you as a writer.

  • I don’t believe in gatekeeping, or that there’s a hierarchy of written work. Write fan fic? YES. Use voice to text software to write? HELL YEAH. Haven’t written since high school? WE LOVE A COMEBACK.

  • My approach is less “how to” and more how can you feel safe, supported and resourced to write the things that feel important to you.

  • I think community is crucial to creation, and as a facilitator, I hold space with the knowledge that it is nothing without the people who fill it up.

  • I believe in art as a healing force, a political act and a way of building empathy and understanding for ourselves and other people.

  • I am aggressively friendly, overly enthusiastic and get incredibly excited when the folks I work with feel good about their art

My spaces are neurodivergent, disabled and queer-centered. Events are offered on a sliding scale, in an attempt to make them financially accessible while balancing the hellscape of capitalism and the truth that community and art should not be commodified.
