Writers' Salon: Works in Progress

Writers’ Salon

The Writers’ Salon is a new event for writers, hosted live and in person in Ottawa, Ontario.

Meeting monthly The Writers’ Salon offers a space for writers to connect, share and build community. The Writers’ Salon is open to writers of all backgrounds, genres and experience levels. The event is hosted by Meg, a neuroqueer writer, artist and creative care practitioner.

In November, The Writers’ Salon invites writers to bring their works in progress. Each participant will have a chance to read a sample of their writing. This is not a place to have your work critiqued or to receive specific feedback, rather to explore what it means to have, and be, a work in progress as a writer. This event is open to writers above the age of 18.

The Writers’ Salon is hosted at The Grove in Hintonburg. You can learn more about The Grove, including location, transportation and accessibility info here. Masks (K95 or higher) are required to attend, and must be worn at all times. Masks will be provided for folks who are unable to bring their own.

The Writers’ Salon is a PWYC, sliding scale event, with a suggested minimum of $10. If using a sliding scale is new to you, you can learn more about that here. Folks with the resources will be prompted to add an amount in addition to the minimum payment at checkout. Please note: If you want to join us, I want you there. You can use the code GROVEPAL to register without a fee. Financial support to access transportation to the event may be available Please email Meg to enquire before registering.

About your host

I am the founder of Writers in Bloom, an online community centring and celebrating neurodivergent, mentally ill and chronically ill writers. I have a special interest in working with writers who have yet to find community, who feel left out of or uncomfortable in traditional or academic writing workshops or who are new to creative spaces. You can learn more about me and my work here.

Questions, concerns or comments? Email me. I’d love to hear from you.
