Too Much And Not Enough: pilot project

At the moment, this is an invite-only pilot project. If you’ve previously attended a Writers in Bloom event and think you should be invited, email Meg. You can join the interest list for upcoming Editions of this group here. Registration closes September 26 (a week before Too Much and Not Enough: Fall Edition begins. There are 6 seats available in Too Much and Not Enough, and a minimum of 5 registrants is required for the event to run.

This is not your old man’s writing workshop.

It’s not your mama’s writing group.

It’s not another notebook on your shelf that you never open again after we wrap up.

Too Much and Not Enough is for folks who feel the urge to do something with and about all the things they’ve written, but aren’t sure what comes next.*

*(It’s also for folks who worry they’re too much. Or not enough. The eternal worry of my neurodivergent, mentally ill, chronically ill people.)

This is for writers who are ready for a different approach- one where you write new things, but also acknowledge that writing just isn’t enough, anymore.

You need to talk about what to do with these things you write.

Support to develop them.

Methods to keep track of the bits you want to go back to, during these weeks and beyond.

Tools to strengthen your editing and workshopping skills.

Explorations of the ways your writing can shine, instead of hiding in a notebook forever.

Do you think you should have been invited to join? Do you really really really really really want to come to Too Much and Not enough? I’d love to hear from you, and I’d be happy to discuss if the pilot project session would be a good fit for you and your writing.

What you’ll do

  • Write

  • Build community

  • Learn how to take care of yourself when going back through your work feels vulnerable or scary, while ALSO learning how to keep track of the shiny bits in what you write as you write them, so you don’t have to wade through years of notebooks to find that one line you wrote in that one workshop one time.

  • Discover how to use and follow your intuition when foraging in your old work, developing and editing your writing.

  • Gain self editing and workshopping skills, including feeling empowered to ask for the feedback you need and want, and creating boundaries in workshops and writing groups (we’ll practice this together!)

  • Have the opportunity to workshop 2 pieces of writing (one created in our sessions together, one pulled from old notebooks, or current works in progress)

  • Call your self a writer, with options for getting your writing into the world, including submitting it to lit mags, as well as opting out of gatekeeping via creating your own opportunities for sharing.

Who it’s for

This is a small group offering, best suited to folks who are dedicated to a new approach to writing groups and workshopping. It’s for writers ready to finish something, and people who want to hold space for themselves and other writers in a loving, supportive and kind community. There will be a maximum of 6 participants in the Fall Edition of Too Much and Not Enough.

In order to get the most out of our time together, you’ll be editing, reading and writing outside of our scheduled meetings. We’ll be working at a fairly fast clip, with the intention of each participant workshopping two pieces of writing during our time together.
