1:1 support for writers

Stay Soft. Write Hard.

Through examining societal forces and understanding the reasons why people find themselves shying away from their writing, we dismantle the beliefs that make creating feel hard. Together, we’ll do the work to understand that there isn’t a one size fits all way to write, but there is probably a way that will work for you.

!:1 sessions help writers find a way to build creative resilience to get them through the bumps in the road. We find a sustainable approach to writing that allows you to stay healthy, centre your whole self, and approach your art from a place of joyful softness.

Share your writing.

Not everyone writes for others to read their work. But many of us wonder “what if.” What if we could write something that people would connect with and love reading?

I have a particular interest in helping writers new to the process bridge the gap between having an excellent piece of writing and getting it ready for outside consumption. Collaboratively, we polish your writing, think outside the box about ways to share your work, and build skills and knowledge.

If you dream of moving your work into the world, we will work together to push back against any fears you may have, examine your relationship to perceived rejection and figure out the best way to make your dreams come true.

Ways to work together 1:1

Book as needed

125$

For people who want to create new work or develop a writing project. We also work together to dismantle the limiting beliefs that convince us we can’t make art.

You’ll get feedback on your writing, accountability, and someone as dedicated to your work as you are to cheerlead you along the way.

Sessions are booked by request.. I’d love to hear how I can support you.

Polishing Session

175$

This session is for writers with a finished piece of prose they want an extra set of eyes on before they submit to literary magazines. Meg will do a thorough review of your prose submission (up to 3,000 words) using her Call and Response feedback method. A read through of your bio and cover letter is also included. Then, we meet to review your materials, discuss which magazines will be a good fit for your work, and address any questions you may have before you send your writing into the world.

FAQ

  • How do I get started?

Reach out. I’d love to book a quick chat to hear how I can support you if it looks like working together will be a good fit.

  • Who do you work with?

My 1:1 sessions are primarily for new and emerging writers working on prose projects. I have a particular interest in working with neurodivergent, mentally ill and chronically ill writers.

To ensure I can offer quality support, I only take on a few 1:1 clients at a time.

  • When are appointments available?

My availability varies, and I may be able to accommodate your schedule. But, I’m primarily available weekday afternoons.

  • How long are support sessions?

All 1:1 sessions are 45-50 minutes, and you can expect a follow up email with goals, relevant resources or reading materials.

  • How often do we meet?

For people looking for ongoing support, I suggest we meet biweekly. If you have a specific piece of writing you want feedback on, you can schedule a Polishing Session whenever you need it!

  • Will you read my work and give me feedback?

Absolutely! You can send up to 1, 500 words for me to read at least 36 hours before we meet.

Polishing sessions include review of up to 3,000 words of prose, as well as your bio and cover letter. All materials must be received a minimum of 7 days before your scheduled appointment.

  • What kind of editing do you offer?

I am not an editor. My skills are best suited to helping new writers get started, or aiding writers who have a work in progress figure out next steps, gain clarity and get through sticky spots.

I use a writer-first response method to help centre you and your work, giving feedback for the project at whatever stage it is in.

Please note I am RSD sensitive and happy to work with the tenderhearted and easily bruised.
